When people ask why I climb (or fly for that matter), I simply tell them that I am addicted to altitude, any way I can get it. Flying and mountaineering are very similar in many ways. The views are incredible, both are challenging mentally and physically, risk management is nearly identical, and you can spend a lot of money doing either activity. Both require the right knowledge and experience to stay safe and have fun. I highly recommend it to anyone, it certainly helps keep the flying weight down...
