Rock and climbing  an integral part of mountaineering, not to mention that it is loads of fun once you learn to trust the process. Ice climbing can also be incredible, though there are not as many opportunities to experience it.

This was a Christmas present to my wife, at her request, and in the living room to boot!!! It took nearly 3 months to complete, working on it here and there, but it is done now and we are having fun getting in shape for this spring/summer outdoor rock climbing.

This is a 2,500' climb that starts as a hike in the woods, and quickly turns into a snow climb requiring ice axe and possibly crampons. The last 50 feet is a 5th class rock climb that is fairly easy, but fun none the less. On the way down, the snow makes for a great glissade. A highly recommended climb!

This is currently my favorite alpine rock climb. It ended with a great multi-pitch 5th class (5.6 overall) rock climb.

I got a great opportunity to be introduced to ice climbing on the Elliot glacier from one of my climbing mentors, Doug Wilson. That was a lot of fun.
